At the present time the average amount of about 11 million metric tons is being extracted annually from more than 900 active quarries which resources are unbelievable in rarity and unimaginable in variety.

The total production capacity of stone plants is about 90 million square meters which is basically used to satisfy domestic demands. But application of modern technology has resulted in production of standard slabs and tiles which are presented to the international markets.

The International Construction Fair BUDMA 2007, held in Poznan on 23-26 January, was visited by over 50,000 attendees from 34 countries. Most of them registered as experts visiting the show. Huge Projects in Multi-Billion Dollar Saudi Construction Boom Fuel Demand for Stone & Stone Technology.

A multi-billion dollar Saudi construction boom, propelled by high-oil-price-generated excess liquidity, a strong economy, and a growing population has prompted strong demand in Saudi Arabia for stone and stone technology. Dozens of huge construction projects are already underway or in the pipeline. The Government is expected to disburse billions of dollars on municipality upgrades and overhauls, hundreds of thousands of housing units needed to accommodate the expanding population, and projects involving hospitals, universities and hundreds of new factories.

The NATURAL STONE 4th International Marble, Natural Stone Products & Technologies Fair brought the authorities of a sector which targets $2.5 billion in exports by 2010 together at CNR EXPO. 22,673 visitors passed through the turnstiles at this fair which had 537 exhibitors. 290 various products from various regions throughout Turkey were exhibited at Natural Stone, which encompassed 80,000 m².

Turkey, a country which dazzles with natural beauty, attracts much attention for the fact that it holds 33% of the world’s natural stone reserves. Turkish natural stone representatives established constructive communications with foreign markets at the Natural Stone Fair, held between 06-09 September 2007. In bringing Turkish and foreign sector authorities together, this fair set the stage for a number of middle- and long-term agreements.
